Team coaching is extremely powerful in providing a platform for bringing people together with different backgrounds and perspectives, and offering them a genuine, safe space to understand how to work best towards their common goal. Like working 1:1, team coaching has very specific individualized needs; but our methods draw out those needs, supporting the team to be successful in line with its own company ethos. During my time working with teams I have noticed a direct effect on the motivation and enthusiasm within teams as a result of this collaborative exercise. Supervision is a process of learning and development for a coach/mentor to reflect on their own skills of knowledge, skills and competencies, in order to improve their professional capacity.

Supervision is considered to be an essential aspect of continuing professional development and best performance practice; indeed professionals at all levels of their career will benefit from supervision of one kind or another. It is only by continuing to be reflective that we continue to be the best we can be – supervision offers this in a constructive and meaningful way, with tangible and long-lasting outcomes.

Through trust-based working, supervision allows space for a deepening of different elements of coaching/mentoring work.

In Facilitation we work in groups to allow each person a chance to express their opinions, and through this process, clarify desired outcomes and aim to achieve common goals and empower teams.

A group facilitator will plan, design and manage this group activity, and through this will clarify with the group goals, steps, and a group consensus.

In Their Own Words

We have started a team coaching programme with Banu Parlar from Terra Coaching in March 2020. Euler Hermes then was in its 9th year in Turkey, posting substantial commercial growth and the team size had reached 65 employees. The Management Team was in agreement in terms of where wanted to go next, however we also felt that we needed to have the buy-in of our mid-level managers to achieve our vision and ensure all the managers see what is in it for them, face the challenges and manage the complexity for their teams. Banu was instrumental in designing a tailor-made team coaching programme for Euler Hermes Turkey, which involved pre-interviews with the Management Team, our mid-Managers and our employees. The programme itself consisted of 3 modules where our teams were involved to define their values, discuss the roadmap to achieve our vision, exchange their views and implement their learnings back in the workplace. It was wonderful to see how our managers taking full ownership of the programme, bringing specific and tangible examples of when, where how on trying something new or a challenge was put into practice and how they felt it went. Thanks to Banu and her team, our mid-managers were encouraged to have a growth mindset through real examples from our workplace, through reflection, and by designing action plans. At the end of the programme and since then, we have achieved very strong employee engagement and cohesion between all the departments in our company.
